Get a Life

I think - maybe - yesterday was the start of me getting a real life back!  A life that doesn't involving MOVING.  Not that The Move - maybe from here on out referred to as The Organization? - won't still be taking up my time, but yesterday I shirked my responsibilities (the promise to clear out Dad's garage - which I'll do tonight)!  I had a much-over-due dental appointment (cleaning, no cavities, thankyouverymuch), ran a couple of errands, and then HAD A NIGHT WITH THE GIRLS!  (And I *don't* mean the cats.)  Two girlfriends and their daughters (both of whom have been my longest nannying gigs) and I met up at one of their homes for a truly lovely dinner and evening.  Ahhhhh, what a treat!  :)

On Sunday, I did get a few things done here at the cabin and then FULLY and COMPLETELY unloaded the STUFFED Suburban of my folks'.  I wasn't expecting to do it all in one day, but I found out at 3:00 that Mama Pea needed it the next day.  Nuthin' like a deadline to get you moving!  Of course, another HUGE thanks has to go out to Mama and Papa Pea for use of yet another storage space (which I unloaded almost everything into).  As soon as the weather begins to moderate, getting into the two rental storage units will be the order of the day . . . with the goal, ultimately, of combining them into just one.

Let's see, what else is new?  Well, in the sub-zero temperatures and with a NASTY wind whipping, I ran out of gas on my way home Wednesday night!  I had to call my daddy to come rescue me.  And, yes, that'd be the daddy who's ALWAYS admonished to NEVER allow a gas tank to get below 1/2 full in the winter.  I was on the last "click" of my computerized gas gauge (the design of which is a little annoying because I don't know WHERE in the last few gallons I am), but I figured I had MANY more miles before I needed to fill up.  Why?  Because normally, I get about 400 - 410 miles to a tank.  And I was only at 264.2 miles.  I knew I wasn't getting as good gas mileage as I usually do (now driving the car for shorter spurts at a time), but there was NO WAY I thought it could ever drop so precipitously to being THAT bad!!!!  But, sure enough, about a mile from home, I ran out.  Here's the weird thing, tho, that makes me wonder if the gauge ISN'T working:  after Dad put a couple gallons in, the reading was still within that last "click".  But, by the time I got home, I was at a full TWO clicks!  So, either it was stuck for a little bit since it had gotten so low OR it really isn't working.  Hmph.

And, with that, I gotta go.

Happy Friday!

  2. Glad to hear you let yourself have some time with friends...it's always a help when getting on with life :)
Be careful now that you have run out of gas...usually the fuel pump is in the gas tank, and it can cause issues. If your car has a sending unit, that could be what is causing the gauge not to work...ask me how I know :).
Have a super weekend, and relax a bit, you have earned it!
