I know I won't have time to write later today, so here's today's post. The only piles of snow left in the yard are ones like this: covered by and insulated under sawdust!
See, our forefathers knew what they were doing when they packed sawdust around those massive blocks of ice languishing in the shady ice houses!
It makes you wonder whether someone was experimenting with ideas for "how can we keep ice cold in the summertime?" or if it was a genius mistake: "Dang, the snow underneath piles of sawdust just DOESN'T melt! Heyyyyy . . . WAIT a minute!!!!"
What do YOU think? :)
P.S. Is your hummingbird feeder out? Today's the day we put them up in our neck of the woods. And, matter of fact, I saw our first one arrive on Tuesday: 3 days early! (But I haven't seen him since . . . probably because I DIDN'T have the hummingbird feeder up yet!) Also, don't forget: new studies have shown that putting red dye in the water you make is unnecessary and actually makes them SICK - giving them diarrhea! So don't do it!
