There's No Fixing Stupid

"Stupid is as stupid does; and there ain't no fixin' stupid."  That's a little Forrest Gump, a little Mama Pea, and a little Papa Pea.  And pretty damn good, eh?!

There's no specific reason for that sentiment other than the general state of People these days.  Such as that congressmanmoron from Missouri or the fact that a certain brand of machetes (we sell a different one at the store) had to be recalled because they cause (get ready for it!) . . . "lacerations".  Oi vey.

No segue, but I am still on tenterhooks waiting to hear if I've been given the final go-ahead from my prospective landlord to rent the little house on 4.5 acres.  Sunday was an uber stressful day because I was filling out the final paperwork and had to check 'Yes' to the question about applicant having been involved in a foreclosure in the past 7 years.  That prompted me to write a long letter to send in along with the completed form, explaining the circumstances leading up to my current situation.  It took a long time to write it, and now I'm still waiting to hear back from her.  :(  On the up side, she and I have developed what I consider to be a good relationship via phone calls and e-mails over these past 2-3 weeks.  On the down side, she seems like a really straight shooter who might reply to me with something along the lines of, "I'm SO sorry about your situation, but we just have a policy with renters that we don't stray from."  I.e. a tanked credit report.  Ugh - from a great credit rating to a probably-near-zero rating in fewer than 2 1/2 years.  And all because I fell in love 16 years ago.  Nice.

I'm stowing the "what if" in the back of my jam-packed brain until I do hear from her.  In the meantime, I can only cross everything crossable and send good vibes into the ether than she'll see through my messy situation to the fact that I'll be the best renter she's ever had!

In other "news" (not really), I'm already lamenting my upcoming schedule - although it's entirely my fault choice.  Lots of folks are getting end of the summer vacations in over the next two weeks, and so I've picked up 5 days of nannying over my next days off.  And, with a move imminent (one way or the other!), I need the extra money.  And I do always love the extra time with the kiddos.  But, the down side is that I won't have a normal day off here at home for the next 16 days!  Ah, well.

And, with that, I've got to get ready for work.  I'll leave you with this, which I found incredibly amusing (which shows my "sense" on humor).  This was the sight that greeted me Sunday morning as I went to feed the cats.  See that mouse?  He looks perfectly fine but a little exhausted, don't you think?  He a-l-m-o-s-t got to the food dish before being neatly chopped chewed in two.

  1. Ahh, much going on in your life! I'm crossing my fingers (and everything else) for you that the landlord lady takes into account your personality as a whole and not just what comes across on paper.
Hope your legs get lots of hugs from the little kid-lettes you are watching on your "days off."
    Good vibes to you.

  2. Please don't work too much, you don't need to get sick on top of everything else you are dealing with :). Hugs and prayers on the rental.

  3. I hope she can see past the black and white on the credit report - landlords are slowly coming around to looking at the whole picture since bad credit is no longer a sign of a person with no responsibility, with so many good, responsible people out there that have just come upon hard times. Add to that the fact that many of these honestly "still trying, just bad luck" folks are better people than many who have it together just on paper :) Have fun nannying, but take some time for yourself somewhere in there!
