What a difference . . . .

If I hadn't taken this picture myself . . .
and had other pictures to confirm the date . . .
I wouldn't believe that the following was taken
today, April 20th, one year ago.

Would YOU?

And here's what Swamp River Ridge looked like this morning:

Wow.  In this situation, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

  1. Here in K'zoo, we're a full 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Everything is in full bloom, but we've had a hard frost the last few nights, so we're very concerned for our fruit farmers here in Michigan. I'm really hoping we're not in for a beastly hot summer-it's been several years since it's been horribly hot and honestly, I haven't missed it one bit! Hope you're well and life is slowing down a bit for you!

  3. Your one-year-ago picture is amazing. I totally copied your idea and also did a short post on my blog this morning with a picture from a year ago. Who woulda believed it??

  4. Mom, I'm kinda glad you copied me . . . just to confirm it! I was TRULY having a hard time believing the dates on my own pictures!

Becky, yeah, the stress does seem to be ebbing a little, for the moment . . . and, I'll TAKE it! :)

The nights are dropping below freezing here, too, but the mercury zooms right up during the day. Of course, today is overcast and, since I decided to close down the Central Boiler for the season yesterday (which means there's no heat in the house), it's 59 in here this AM!

Too, the early snow melt means HIGH fire danger. A lot of people are really worried that we might have another BIG fire like we did 2 (3?) years ago when several homes were lost. The search plane has been making passes directly over Swamp River Ridge twice a day now for at least a week already. If I'm outside where they can see me, I wave, wave, wave and HAVE gotten one wing-waggle in return, so far.

  5. your comment on the wing wave made me laugh - my brother flies up there alot on his training missions and has been known to buzz friends' cabins when he knows they are up there for the weekend, ssshhh.... don't tell the Air Force, lol! He's single too... maybe you should get out there and jump around more often, heeheehee, I kill myself sometimes!
