Nuthin' Much (Again)

Hey, y'all.

I was enjoying that regular thing I had going for a few nights there, blogging right before I closed my eyes for the night.  But, I got sick Saturday night with what I'm assuming was a migraine (hurts so much you think you're gonna vomit?), Sunday I was still fighting the bug, and last night . . . I was all snuggled into bed, the house was completely shut down, I turned on the laptop, clicked to connect to the Internet . . . and realized I'd turned the modem off downstairs before coming up.  Doh!  So, no update last night.  But, here I am now.

So, here's the question:  doesn't everyone return home from a simple town day at 11:00 PM . . . still needing to unpack the truck, feed the dogs their very late dinner, and do chores before coming inside?  Or, is that just me?  Honestly, where DOES the time GO?  Let's have a review, shall we?
  • 6:00 AM  Alarm
  • 7:00 - 7:15  The briefest possible version of morning chores.
  • 7:15 - 8:30  Throw dogs into truck and drive to work.
  • 8:30 - 5:45  Nanny (dogs can run outside there).
  • 5:45 - 7:00  Drive back into town (I was out the other side) and do first grocery shopping in an AGE.
  • 7:00 - 8:00  Run to folks' house, exchange weekly piles o' stuff (Mom tapes 'The Amazing Race' and 'Survivor' for me), get caught up in conversation with Mama Pea, see my reflection in the bathroom mirror:  "Holy shit, I've gone bopping around all day feeling just as fine and pretty as you please when I've looked like THIS?  Where's the tranquilizer gun?"
  • 8:00 - 8:15  Back into town to Subway to grab dinner . . . and even tho I've had the taste of that Cold Cut Combo on Monterrey Cheddar in my mouth for about 4 hours, they've just closed . . . and continue on to Tom's temporary digs.
  • 8:15 - 9:30  "Quick" visit / meeting / conversation about divorce proceedings, etc.  See husband looking gaunt and . . . awful.  Try to be real.  Try to be honest.  Try to be mature.  Try to not wonder when it was, exactly, that we must have become strangers?  How can two people who slept together every single night have such a massively huge cancer growing between them?  Sad, sad, sad.  Make it to truck before crying any more.  Then cry.  Cry, cry, cry.  I can't go to the gas station like this.
  • 9:30 - 9:45  Screw it.  The truck needs gas.  Who cares if they see I've been crying?  Life is messy sometimes.  I'm nothing if not "what you see is what you get".
  • 9:45 - 11:00  Slow drive home.  No need to push it.  Super America coffee, a mini pack of junky donuts that don't even taste good, and Corn Nuts for dinner.  Yummm.
  • 11:00 - 11:30  Feed so-patient-it-kills-me dogs their dinner, unpack truck & do brief version of chores.
  • 11:30 - 12:00  Put away perishables and crack open Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade.  Not in that order.  Close up house.
  • 12:00 - Now  Into bed with laptop, waiting for Annie Blue (the cat) to ask to come back inside.
Annnnd, there ya have it:  a normal town day.

P.S.  Never thought 'Divorce' would be a Label I'd E-V-E-R be adding to this blog!  Life is NOTHING if not interesting!

  1. You're still doing life! It may not be what or how you planned it to be, but good for you for continuing on day by day. These next few months will likely find you figuring out what's important and what really isn't and making the adjustments you need to make to make life easier. Thank God for sweet and patient dogs-I wish people could love as unconditionally as they do!

  2. That is definitely a busy day! Hope your talk with husband left some of your brain intact, I know that kind of stuff can leave you completely void of feeling and numb for awhile. Glad you take your dogs with you when you go places, there are no better listening ears than dogs, and as a bonus they let you grab their hair and sob into it - with who else can you get away with that?! Cheers to the Hard Cranberry Lemonade and junky donuts - we all need that once in awhile. I hope you can recoup a bit today, those migraines can worsen with stress, and you don't need that added into your day. Take another pic of that view from your bedroom window, post it, and then look at it through your readers' eyes... it will brighten your day even if just for a minute! Go get'em girl, it's a new day...

  4. Becky, yes, the good dogs have logged COUNTLESS hours in the cars, trucks, vehicles. On occasion, they'll thank me with something chewed beyond repair or a little pool of vomit . . . but those are easy payments for me to make them. It's a rare day that I don't have them with, and even on those that I think I might relish the break of them not being with me, I realize that were I to go in the ditch or have car trouble, I'd definitely want them with me on the walk home. Hmm, maybe that's a post right there: dogs in the car and the ensuing adventures! Yup, I think I'll do that!

Erin, you're the best! :) When we finally get together, I think it could be dangerous. Thanks for the idea about yet another post. Things like this DO help me!

Mama, I know. Ditto to you. xo

  5. Ah yes, we have a sweet black lab that just turned 13. I can't imagine life without her, and yet I know that time will come. She's the best dog ever, I can't imagine another pup taking her place, and yet I can't imagine life without a family dog. Ok, I'll stop now-I'm making myself cry! :)
