Hmmmm . . .

Hmmmm . . . today's gonna be interesting.  We got MORE snow last night, and winter is - most definitely, it seems - here!  And, once The Move is complete, I'll be able to truly enjoy it.  Still, I *do* enjoy it 'cause I love snow so much (Mollie, wait for it!), but it certainly adds another To Do onto The Move.

The plow is at my folks' (since I took it off in the spring before I knew where I'd be living).  The truck is at Swamp River Ridge.  Fully loaded with a HUGE load of pallets (for storage bases here at the cabin) and timbers that were milled on the sawmill and from SRR trees that I (we, the ex and I) own with another set of friends.  And, I drove the little Yaris when I left Thanksgiving morning.  And it has bad tires on it.  Soooo, I don't think I'll be able to make it in today with the car('s bad tires).  Thankfully, Mom & Dad have dedicated one of their Suburbans and the high-sided trailer to me until The Move is complete.  So, I'll drive that to SRR today, sans the trailer (since I don't know how much unplowed snow I'll encounter).  The Canadians who came down for the post-holiday shopping were amazed that we had such a little (comparatively) amount of snow . . . because they got about a foot!  And, as you know, Swamp River Ridge is pretty close to Canada (700 yards)!  That means . . . there's probably gonna be a LOT of snow at SRR!  So, as I said, the drive home is gonna be interesting today - to see how much snow there is up there.

And, did I mention that - because the temps were SO mild Thursday morning, I threw all three cats outside before I left?  Sigh.  Yes, I am a horrible cat mother.

I took this picture out the window of my car on Black Friday to illustrate that winter has arrived:

Here's a shot I took this morning out the bedroom window of the cabin:

Fortunately (!), it turned cold quickly following the rain that started Thanksgiving's snowfall, so all the white stuff is light and fluffy.  I can't imagine what a bear it would be (getting into SRR) if this was all wet cement!

So, with that, off I go to get myself together here at the cabin and ready to head out.

I'll let you know how it all goes (early this coming week, probably)!

  1. I only wish I were you for a short while... I love the thought of living in snow, but I know I'd get tired of it soon. Hope your drive wasn't too bad.
