Alright, I could not make this up.
Not 24 hours after the great flood debacle, I am pulling my paperwork together for the tax appointment. I go into my office to turn on that computer to pull all the needed info from Quicken. (In order to prevent all that office equipment from ever pulling a ghost load, those circuits are activated by a wall switch.)
So, I walk in the room, flip on the wall switch, hear a loud ZZZT and then the big *POP!*, and I squeal and turn the switch off. Heart in throat, I hesitantly walk over to my desk. Any smoke? No. Any bad smell? No. But, what the hell . . . ?! There's no way I'm gonna turn the switch on again until I've taken every single piece of electronics off my desk to plug in elsewhere in order to establish its (working vs. non-working) status. Which is NOT what I have time for in this rush to get ready for the tax appointment!!
I swear to GAWD, the universe is working AGAINST ME getting these things and Big Decisions made!!!!!!!!! Arrrrrrghh! What the hey-ell, people?!

WHAT??? That is crazy, so what did you determine?
ReplyDeleteDid you trip a circuit?? That's kinda what it sounds like. I know computers are great (:o\ . . . are we sure?) but the chance of "losing" important data on a computer would never have happened in the days of keeping a ledger with pen in hand or information kept in a box somewhere.
ReplyDeleteDidn't trip a circuit. Checked that and not so lucky.
ReplyDeleteBad switch that caused a short would be my next guess. Hope everything works for you.

I am SO DARN SORRY to hear about how things have been going. That's really rough! I'm so glad that at least you got a washing machine that works out of the deal. Keep a stiff upper lip! We homesteader women don't give up without a fight! ;)
ReplyDeletewell you can always take a dip in that beautiful lake you have at hand nearby-looks sooooooo inviting
