Yup, It's Broke!

Now how's THAT for a broken clavicle, huh?! Wow.

So, we drove to Cottonwood today to get the last set of chest x-rays. The main purpose was to see how the lung looks, but we thought this was way more interesting! (And the doc won't see the results until tomorrow, anyway, at which point his nurse will call us . . . BUT we don't expect any problems there.)

When we were there, we asked if we could get a copy of all the x-rays for our records and to show our docs at home. They said that the backlog would take a few days to get together and that they would send us that CD but for today's they could just burn an extra copy. So, now we have 'em! Very cool to see!

But, seeing how bad the break is in his shoulder I don't know how Tom will be able to get by without surgery on it. The osteopath who initially looked at it said that he wanted Tom to check in with a surgeon between 6 - 12 weeks, but I think that was when the break was still "just" a 'butterfly' break: before it had overlapped and started poking out like it is now. Anyway, time will tell. Looking at this diagram of a Butterfly Fracture, you can kind of see what must have happened in Tom's shoulder since the accident:

Anyway, that's the latest from our end! I'm missing the beauty of the ice storm they're having at home but not the danger nor inconvenience! Take care, everyone!

  1. From your lead photo, I'm not sure that Tom's missing that ice storm -he seems pretty content with that Arizona warmth!!!

  2. And have you noticed that Lance Armstrong has jumped on Tom's bandwagon now and had his own bike crash?

He actually expects sympathy when all he got was a broken collarbone.

    Puhleeze.

    Lightweight.

    Tom is still Da MAN!!!

  3. Yup! THAT is a break. Looks like yous is having a good old time. Don't worry about us back here in the rain and snow. Really, we don't need any freakin' sunshine.

  4. OMG! That looks so painful!
I hope Tom doesn't have to wait 6 weeks to have that repaired.
