Better and Better . . .

Just hung up the phone with Chicken Mama. She called as soon as they finished seeing Tom's doctor.

The great news is that they've been given the desired "Get Out of Jail Free" card and are packing up to leave the hospital! A twenty-five minute ride to Sedona and they will be "home" at D and P's house.

One little downside is that the portion of his lung that remains collapsed looked a little bigger on today's x-rays. However, the doctor wasn't overly concerned about it. (So I think we should all agree with him.) He says it could be a result of having the tube pulled out yesterday or a slightly different angle of the newest x-rays making it look a little larger.

Tom tried to start cutting down on his pain medication this morning (silly boy) but Chicken Mama convinced him that he would heal better and faster if he wasn't in more pain than necessary and also he needs to prepare for the ride from the hospital to Sedona today which ain't gonna be a picnic.

Once again, Tom's good physical condition has been a plus in the whole situation. Everyone is saying he's going to be a "quick recoverer" so things are definitely looking up.

He's to have one full week of recuperation before the doctor wants to see him again. So he's scheduled for an appearance back at the hospital a week from tomorrow and we'll see what the prognosis is from there.

This should be my last post on these crazy goings-on in Arizona. Chicken Mama will be hooked up with her computer either tonight or tomorrow and can make her own entries along with pictures of Tom's rainbow hued body.

I'm heaving one great, big sigh of relief that things are looking so good. Whew!
