Okay, so it's not spring, but it sure does feel like it! And, while this is a nice reprieve from cold weather and does bring some much-needed rain, it also reminds us that the climate is a-changin'! At this time of year, we should NOT be having rain and balmy weather in the high 40s! We always used to have a blizzard - a good, old-fashioned, all-out blizzard - right around Thanksgiving. Now what do we have to look forward to? An all-out nice, soaking rain? Hmm - doesn't seem quite right.
We're in Week 4 of the stone work on the house. And, while the masons are great to have around (save one or two "helpers" that have come and gone), it will still be LOVELY to have our home back to ourselves . . . no one pounding on it all day long, day in and day out! But, even when they leave, the projects on the garage (siding) and woodshed (shingles) will be continuing for a bit longer. So, it's still Construction Central around here. I guess progress sometimes requires temporary inconvenience.
Speaking of our masons, they are in such trouble! We took them out last night for dinner (the main crew is comprised of a husband-wife team) because we enjoy them so much and wanted to give them a little extra thank you for all the tremendous work they've done. (We hope they'll become real friends in the years to come.) Anyway, we had a great, fun dinner: appetizers, dinner, and three rounds of drinks. At the end of the evening, I went to pay, and those BAD, NASTY people had already paid for the entire meal!! What the . . . ! So much for our thank you / fun night for them! But, as I told them, payback's hell, so some how, some way, some day . . . we'll get 'em!
