23 September 2006: The colors are brilliant this year - although, given the dry summer we had, peak has already passed. Nearly all the maples are bare now, but I did catch this one on an evening walk down to the logging site Saturday night.
Regarding the logging we've been allowing access to through our property, they are shutting down until freeze-up. We finally started getting some MUCH-needed rain this past week, and, since then, the days have been typical Minnesota fall weather: rainy and blustery. But, that rain has also made it impossible for the loggers to get a fully loaded logging truck - even with chains on - up the hill they need to climb to get out of the logging site. They expect to be back around Christmas when the ground is frozen solid and hard as a rock.
