11 July 2006: "Getting water" has a whole new meaning when the pump is not yet hooked up. So, getting water during this entire building process means one of us (me, in this case) loading up a large barrel into the back of the pickup, driving down to the river and backing down into it, putting on knee-high rubber boots (or sandals if you have shorts on), and then filling the barrel bucket by bucket. When that's finished and you've driven ever-so-carefully up the slippery slope out of the river, you crawl up the dirt road home in 1st gear . . . trying to spill as little as possible of the precious stuff!
