Far Too Long

My apologies: it's been far too long since I've updated. And, unfortunately, this won't be the full-on newsy note I owe you, but I WILL get some pictures posted.

In the last week or so, we've gotten the floor installed (or, should I say, Tom got the floor installed) in the 2nd bedroom / my office. Instead of carpet, we bought an eco-friendly faux wood flooring, and it looks great! As a friend commented, it is much more the style of this house than carpet would have been. We like it so much that we are going to finish (finally!) the floor in our little cabin, 5471 Hafweh Haus, with it. There are other options than the least expensive which we chose for the house here - very cool options (and very "real wood" looking options)! We're even thinking of putting it down over the cement floor in Tom's office / workshop up in the south end of the new garage. Not only will it class up the space, but it will give some "forgiveness" to the hard concrete floor.

This past Saturday we attended the wedding of a dear friend . . . who just happens to be the step-brother of the Bride of the Year who you've seen in the pictures I've been posting from May 20th! Her mother (the bride from the 20th) and his dad (the groom from the 3rd) are married and, once locals, now live in France - hence the desire to schedule both weddings close together. It was a beautiful afternoon and evening - the lilacs choosing to burst into full bloom that weekend - and we enjoyed catching up with folks we hadn't seen in ages plus many of the same family and friends from the May 20th wedding. Within a couple of weeks, the new bride and groom are off to Uganda for 3 years! What an amazing experience to start a marriage with!

All 46 of the windows in the garage and house ARE NOW IN! What a great feeling! Unfortunately, we've been so busy since then that we haven't even had the appropriate amount of time to just sit and LOOK at them! I'm hoping for some of that (time) tomorrow after I meet with our electrician and another sub-contractor up at the property.

Other than that (and the fact that I really need about 2 solid days of sleep to feel human), things are going well. Tucker Ducker (a.k.a. "Pooper") is doing so well! He continues to amaze us. And, Maisy is a real angel with him. Whether he's chewing on her tail or ear or trying to get a stick away from her, she's so gentle with him. Even Miss Kitty has gotten over her initial "mood" and started coming back into the house again.

Our little Hastings-on-the-Lake here still isn't on the market, but we're getting oh-so-close! On the up side, we have had an offer on the cabin down south. Keep your fingers crossed!
