Things are HAPPENIN'!

Wow! When things finally get rolling, they get rolling! Instead of just moving his equipment up to the building site yesterday, our excavator got right to it! He stopped by here to give us enough notice that we actually had the opportunity to snag our timberframe builder. He had the time, so he drove out and we all pow-wowed about what, exactly, we needed done where.

To prove his earlier theory, our excavator dug into the pond site to see if we had the gravel he thought we would. And, we do - which means that, instead of having to pay for and haul gravel for fill on the other areas of our property (spur driveway, garage pad, and house pad), he can take it right out of the pond - thereby killing two birds with the proverbial one stone! Matter of fact, he said that we could pay off some of our building loans by opening up a gravel pit, it's that plentiful! (Sorry, not gonna do it.) But, being able to provide our own gravel is a huge help - a real time and money saver - during this process.

So, his crew got right to work on the spur driveway which is where we'll skid the trapper cabin to and where extra vehicles, canoes, etc. will be stored - out of sight. I was so nervous/excited/anxious about everything we've been working so hard on finally coming to fruition that I gave myself one helluva stomach ache yesterday. Dummy. But, it's just SO great to finally see things start happening!

We have friends coming to spend the night at our little cabin we built near town (the Hafweh Haus), so I'm off to get that cleaned up. Then, it's up to the property this afternoon. I can't get up there soon enough!
