Congratulations to all of you for whom school is out - particularly my dad and GGS (teachers, both)!
With the letting out of school comes the return of Maisy's dog-walker. A boy who lives down the road started walking her last summer and has come back this year for more punishment! Their first day was today. The price has remained the same at $1.00/day for regular walks but jumped up to $2.00 for a walk up to the post office and back (1 mile, round trip).
When we drove up to the property last night we came to a screeching halt at the bottom of a hill where the beavers have been busy at work all winter and spring. They've built an impressive dam and pond, but their logs finally jammed the culvert, and the run-off from their pond has washed out the road. After scouting out the situation, we decided to go ahead and drive through it . . . probably not such a good idea in retrospect. But, nothing bad happened to the car (I thought it had enough clearance, Tom wasn't so sure), and we made it. Sure made some horrible crashing noises, though, as Tom guided me and I banged down into the wash-out! Oops. Where would we be without adventure, though, right?
