Was there any mention of the mortgage company letting you stay "until"? Out here lots of companies are now letting people stay until the house sells for security reasons, there are tons of people out there that scour the foreclosure ads and move in and take out everything, including the systems in the house, and your house has some pretty valuable systems - make sure they know how far from anything your place really is and that it could be stripped if nobody was there.
